Description

The Norway Spruce (Picea Abies) is known as the traditional Christmas tree in the UK. It was the most common Christmas tree during the 20th century in the UK and was famed for its “Christmassy” pine scent. Even with the rise in popularity of the Nordmann Fir, Norway Spruces can still be found in both Trafalgar Square and 10 Downing Street every year.

Appearance

The Norway Spruce is bushy and well-shaped, with short, light green needles. The branches themselves are strong, perfect for hanging decorations.

Look, feel and smell

The Norway Spruce is most famous for its instantly recognisable rich, deep pine scent. It will make any room smell fresh and Christmassy. The needles can be a bit spiky, and cause allergic reactions, so these are less popular for those with children and pets who might want to touch, or even chew the tree!

Needle retention

When kept indoors, Norway Spruces have terrible needle retention compared to the Nordmann Firs or Fraser Firs. This is why they are most frequently seen outside, or when used inside, purchased closer to Christmas. In either case, you will need to make sure to keep your Christmas tree well watered to keep it looking fresher for longer.

Sizes

We offer Norway Spruces from 3ft up to 8ft on our website, but we can also offer much larger trees if you contact us directly.

Care

To keep your Christmas tree looking as fresh as possible throughout the festive season we recommend the following:

    • Keep your Christmas tree as cool as possible for as long as possible. While Nordmann Firs handle the heat a lot better than Spruces, they will still fare better in the cold than by a roaring fire.
    • Keep your Christmas tree watered. The roots might be gone, but your Christmas tree can still absorb some water through its trunk. This can be hampered if your Christmas tree has formed a sappy seal where it has been cut, so bonus points for sawing a layer of the bottom of the tree before placing it into your water holding stand.

What next

Don't forget you can also add on your sparkly Christmas tree lights, water holding Christmas tree stands and collection for your Christmas trees as part of your order.

Delivery

Our national couriers will deliver throughout England, Wales and Scotland, excluding the Highlands. For orders in London we will use our local courier.

We deliver Monday to Friday from the 25th November to the 22nd December. We can also do weekends in London (within M25).

Please note, as we use third party national couriers for national delivery, we cannot guarantee a preferred delivery date as this is out of our control. If you need your Christmas tree by a specific date we’d recommend requesting delivery 2 days prior to this.
