There are lots of different varieties of Christmas trees. There are two main types of indoor Christmas tree types in the UK; the Nordmann Fir and the growingly popular Fraser Fir. The Nordmann Fir is often known as the “non-drop” Christmas tree and is the most popular Christmas tree in the UK due to its excellent needle retention when kept indoors. The Fraser Fir is a newcomer to the UK, but has been outselling the Nordmann Fir in some areas such as London where people want a tall but slim tree due to a lack of space.
Nordmann Fir Christmas Tree
The Nordmann Fir is the UK’s most popular Christmas tree. It has a uniform conical shape, and dark green needles which are softer and more child and pet friendly than other varieties. The Nordmann Fir has excellent needle retention even after it has been cut, making it a great choice to for an indoor Christmas tree.
Fraser Fir Christmas Tree
The Fraser Fir is a pyramid-shaped tree. Its strong branches face slightly upwards which makes it look denser and more compact than alternative varieties. They tend to be more narrow than the Nordmann Fir which makes them ideal for smaller, or fuller rooms, where you want the look of a full bushy tree but perhaps don’t have the floor space for a Nordmann Fir.
Christmas Tree Quality
Another element you should consider is what grade of Christmas tree you are buying. Many Christmas tree sellers offer lower grade trees without specifying.
